Inverness and Places North

I traveled North from Crieff this week to Inverness, Loch Ness, Fort William and Aviemore. I will share a short video from the shores of Loch Ness later in the week.
I think the highlight was meeting Gay Outdoor Club member, Alan, who is an avid hill walker. He and other queer walkers and climbers have been topping Scottish hills and mountains for over 30 years. Oh and in Inverness I visited Scotland's largest used bookstore (I purchased a book of poetry by Robert Burns, a replacement copy of CS Lewis' The Great Divorce and for my host the complete short stories of Saki/HH Munro. )
In Glen Nevis (in the cloudy shadow of Britain's largest mountain, Ben Nevis), I did a short walk with my new walking trousers. I felt more elf-like than ever bounding over rocks and streams. Must me some miracle fabric or something. (click on photos for a larger view)

I like the imagry in the photo on all the books behind the bars. Forbidden knowledge...
Gay Outdoor Club. Why am I not a member in a organisation like that? Sounds like you having a great time.
The road goes ever on and on *singning and walking around bare-feet pretending I´m a hobbit*
Oh and yes, I enjoy the scenery and wonderful pictures if you wonder where my singing came from :)
alex, forbidden knowledge indeed, or at least limited to my billfold. Yeah the bars were part of the balcony that housed the cafe. I nearly didn't post the photo because of the bars, but I kept going back to it as it spoke to me on a deeper level.
anna hp, oh I do feel like I am in a hobbit adventure these days, but I feel so elfish and not my normal stout hobbit self. Must be all the leaping from stone to stone with my magic mountain fabrics. I only need your fabulous hair to finish off the look.
where's the picture of you in the shorts??!...
-- Tom D.
Tom darling, I need to remind you that my blog is not fodder for your personal fantasies. Surely your imagination is strong enough to sustain you.
But that said, if you venture north to the mid-winter gathering of FLGBTQ, I may sport some special shorts in your honor or maybe a kilt.
Mmmmm. H.H. Munro/Saki. I remember very clearly reading "Laura" and "Sredni Vashtar" for the first time as a pre-teen from some sort of collection of scary stories. So I looked up the author, and discovered a true treasure-trove. I especially loved "The Story-Teller" with its improper story from that first moment. What a marvellous gift.
And your pictures have given me a serious homesickness for Appalachia.
I'm counting on the Loch Ness video...I've been fascinated with that story since I was a little girl. Do we also have that in common?
pam
beautiful photos as always.
Pam, when I was a little girl, I was far less fascinated with Nessie but obsessed relentlessly on Scott Baio. :-p
But I do remember "In Search of..." and always dreamed of going to Loch Ness to hunt down the monster and shot it (with my camera of course).
I may work on the video tomorrow, but I've been writing like crazy on other projects, so no promises. I did look at the film and noticed that something unexpected got filmed.
dragonfly, thank you!
I tried to make a picture of your face with my hair .. let's just say I failed miserably but that doesn't mean it wouldn't look good on you .. on the contrary. I think my brother has a auburn-coloured wig, you can try that on next time you're here ..
Ah, the Great Divorce -- how does it read in the lovely North of Scotland?
